Monday we went as a gift from Dad to By Appointment for diner. Ahhhhh, it was so nice. I could not begin to explain how lovely the meal was. Just imagine the best tasting expensive food melting in your mouth. Robert and Tim as always were friendly and slightly cheeky. I love that place it is as if it was decorated by two eccentric great old aunts (luckily minus the arsenic and plus the old lace.)
Tuesday (the feast day of Saint Valentine and chocolate lovers) I was awoken by cupid. I say cupid I mean Cadfael with butterfly wings. Chris even made me a card (the best card I’ve ever gotten) with a lovely corgi-come-cupid and of course there were love hearts. (Which I still have to pace myself eating since the 100’s of love hearts that Chris got me for my birthday two years ago burnt an ulcer into my gut – in the shape of a heart at least.) We spent the day doing lovely romantic things and Chris made me dinner and bought me a bay tree. I walked Cadfael over to the Rose Valley Park as usual but this time with wings. You might not realize Cadfael has a cat frined named Pongo who joins us at the park everyday. But when Pongo jumped out of the bushes to rub up against Cadfael as usual he saw the wings and did the whole Halloween-arched-cat-sideways-jump-in-fright-thing, people on the other hand found him cute. Children laughed, and one lady said ‘She is beautiful’. I didn’t have the heart to correct her about Cadfael’s gender – I mean he was wearing glitter wings. The day was good to say the least.

Wednesday the sun shone! It seemed like years since I had seen it, so we had to go and play in it. So we went to Venta Icenorum. We took Cadfael into town and hopped on the 58A and got off at Caistor St. Edmund and walked to a town built somewhere around 200 A.D. Cadfael was in his element, he was on full frolicking speed. The sun shone through the clouds (granted as it rained on us.) We saw a kestrel, a wren, some sheep, a big-but-not-Herman-big rabbit. Walking in from the side we did the first thing we saw was a mighty big wall with a sign that showed the town that once was on the other side. As we approached the top of the wall we were hoping for ancient roads, parts of buildings, baths, mosaics, a mini Pompeii. It was in fact just a field. Still we (now don’t tell anyone) found a bit of Roman pottery and had off with that – shhh. Cadfael found a far better prize – sheep poo. We turned and there he was rolling head first into it, then sliding down his back, and rubbing it in good. He was actually rolling toward a swift river Tas head first on his back, but he stopped himself in time and came bounding over happy as a pig in, well, sheep’s poo. That was great bus ride back. I had to stop a little girl from stoking him, I felt bad, but as I explained it was for her own good. She asked me if it was the queen’s dog. I said trust me the queen’s dogs don’t roll it this stuff. Luckily I had to get to Improv, so Chris had to do the bath-time.
Thursday I made dinner for Chris and Dave, we watched L.A. Story and ate our own body weight in ice cream.
Friday I cleaned the house all day then Dave’s parents stopped by quickly. They were very much like Dave only older. His Dad was less poetry and more football. His Mother actually seemed to like Cadfael right away and didn’t mock him for his lack of thumbs. I also made an apple pie which than sadly became my dinner.
Saturday I had apple pie for breakfast then was in town trying and failing to get myself a pair of shoes as the hole-to-shoe ratio is taking over all of my footwear. We ate at the Lucky Star Chinese Buffet in a Car Park fame and it was every thing you expect from a Chinese lunch buffet at the end of the day in a car park. That night I was off to Lady Biscuit-Bready-Bucket-Barrel (a night of sketch comedy at UEA, actually called Lady Bagel – but I like what I accidentally called it better.) It was very good it had all the guys from Improv in it (except Fred) and all us girls watching.
Today was mostly all the stuff I never got around to doing like laundry and this here blog. Chris is now starting to freak out as I am still awake as I am usually fast asleep by this time on a Sunday, but that is what he gets for getting me Dr. Pepper. Seriously caffeine for the normally Green River types (caffeine free since 1919) does affect me. Which might explain my dreams of the last few nights; pre-caffeine: a bird nestled up to my hand and wanted to be pet then laid her eggs in my hands. Post-caffeine: Jon from Improv was driving to a secluded wood and said he was going to release my soul by cutting my face open with an ax, so I beat him over the head with a 25 pound weight. Stick to the Green River people.
